Satellite communication for remote control and monitoring of substations - Pole mounted Direct X1 outdoor remote & power supply using a .75M antenna Application for substation automation Substation Automation is a supervisory management and control system that lies in between transmission and distribution systems. The interests on substation automation have been increasing rapidly due to its numerous benefits to utilities. It has advanced further than a traditional Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)system providing additional capability and information that can be used to further improve operations, maintenance and efficiencies in substations. The most significant elements of a substation automation system include relays and/or Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs) that perform various control, monitoring and protection related operations. The desire and the need of merging the communication capabilities o...

Innovation on Superman Memory Crystal for 13.8 billion years' Researchers of University of Southampton, UK, archived some documents, along with Isaac Newton's scientific treatise "Optics," on coin-size pieces of glass using a method of laser etching. These tiny discs can survive for billions of years at temperatures of 374 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius). The Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the King James Bible have now been digitally stored on a piece of glass known as a "Superman memory crystal" that has the capacity to save huge amounts of information for up to 13.8 billion years. Scientists have been pursuing the idea of glass as a medium for mass data storage since 1996, when it was first suggested that data could be written optically into transparent materials. By using a femto-second laser to alter the physical structure of fused quartz, a “dot” with a different refractive index can be created to denote the binary digi...

Recommendised E-Trade Through Web Data Mining Dr. Sandeep Gupta Department of Computer Science and Engineering, JIMS Engineering Management Technical Campus, Gr.noida (affiliated to GGS IP University, New Delhi, India) Sandeep.gupta@jagannath.org I. INTRODUCTION The aim of individualizing information services is to provide users with individually tailored news and information. It is to optimally support them retrieving information within their scope of interest in the desired coverage, access time, and media. Personalization is also about making online information easier to access, more efficient in use, and providing an individual, personal online experience for the users. Thereby personalization can be considered twofold: as a feature that supports the information supply of a particular information provider, or as an autonomous concept which is to grab and filter information and contents from several information sources and individu...

The G’s: Past, Present & Future!!! Considering the recent developments in the wireless field, mobile communications is not a new topic. It all started since 1946 with massive two-way car radio equipment installation called “radio telephone” by Motorola. The extremely bulky equipment provided the operations of a modern Walky-Talky with the PTT (Push to Talk) feature. This pre-cellular system was commonly called as the 0G system. The cellular systems became prevalent during 1980’s. Such systems opened the door to frequency reuse among geographical cells to optimize frequency usage. In 1973, Motorola demonstrated the world’s first portable cellular telephone using its DynaTAC (DYNamic Adaptive Total Area Coverage) technology. It was after 10 years (in 1983) that the US FCC (Federal Communications Commission) approved Motorola’s DynaTAC 8000X phone. Thus, world’s first commercial portable cellular phone that weighed 7...

NASA: PLAN OF PERMANENT SETTLEMENT ON MARS. NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration), the US space agency released a detailed outline of its plan to send manned mission to Mars. In a report titled “NASA’s Journey to Mars Pioneering Next Steps in Space Exploration”, the agency said it is closer to sending manned mission to mars for establishing permanent settlement on creating deep-space habitation facilities there by 2030s. The plan under which, humans will be living and working on Mars in colonies entirely independent of earth by the 2030s, will act as stepping stones to Mars. Three stages of Journey to Mars NASA explains that the journey to Mars will cross three thresholds, each with increasing challenges as humans move farther from earth and closer to Mars. These steps are- 1) Earth Reliant exploration The Earth Reliant exploration is focused on research aboard the international Space Station. For that NASA is testing technologies and advancing human health and performa...
