This market springs from the synergic interconnection of key industry and service sectors, such as Smart Governance, Smart Mobility, Smart Utilities, Smart Buildings, and Smart Environment. These sectors have also been considered in the European Smart Citie to define a ranking criterion that can be used to assess the level of “smartness” of European cities. Nonetheless, the Smart City market has not really taken off yet, for a number of political, technical, and financial barriers . Under the political dimension, the primary obstacle is the attribution of decision-making power to the different stakeholders. A possible way to remove this roadblock is to institutionalize the entire decision and execution process, concentrating the strategic planning and management of the smart city aspects into a single, dedicat

Optical Wireless for quickly and high-throughput link connectivity THE PROBLEM:  Engineering services firms need to quickly and cost-effectively connect high-speed networks between office buildings or portable office work trailers. THE SOLUTION:  High-throughput beams of laser light connect buildings, enabling data-intensive computer-aided design, modeling and process simulation collaboration by engineering services firm employees in multiple sites. . The solution eliminates: • Duplicate data centers in multiple buildings. • Time-consuming installations. • T1 and E1 throughput constraints. • Costly fiber investments. • Reliance on fixed-line service providers. • In-ground fiber requirements. Additional Benefits include: • Full speed, bi-directional communication. • Not reliant on service provider fiber line availability. • Secure connections cannot be sniffed or detected. • Installed and operational in a day. • Immune from interference with ex

Blockchain and IOT: Long Lasting Friends

The rapid advance of Blockchain technology and the Internet of Things (IoT) are felt throughout our daily lives. A Gartner  study  estimates Blockchain will add $3.1 trillion in business value by 2030, and in another  analysis  the global IoT market is expected to grow from $157B in 2016 to $457B by 2020. We are about to see more change than we could imagine with Blockchain and IoT. These applications will disrupt existing processes across variety of industries including manufacturing, trading, shipping, the financial sector and healthcare. In spite of these advancements security remains a top concern for the IoT ecosystem as it exposes multiple devices, huge amounts of data, supply chain partners and the community as a whole to security breaches. For example, in healthcare the privacy integrity and control over access to data is paramount and critically important. As the connections of various IoT devices that monitor a patient’s real-time medical data increases, the entry points
