Disruption: The new normal ????

Disruption is the new normal. The term disruption sounds familiar to our ears now but it wasn’t that famous way back in 1997 when renowned HarwardBusiness School Professor Mr. Clayton M Christensen tossed the term Disruptive Innovation in his book ‘The innovator’s dilemma’. He described Disruptive Innovation as something innovative that a company does, either in its business model or with its offerings, at the low-end of any market. Once it is able to mark its strong presence there, then it moves up the ladder and challenges the other prominent players in the segment. As per Christensen, a disruptive innovation starts as an experiment early and then heads towards making the current business model obsolete. Disruption is also not confined or limited to large corporations only. It can be easily exercised by small/new companies. He also described the difference between disruptive innovation and sustainable innovation. While the later focuses on improving the existing products, the f

Why is the pressure button in the plane necessary?

The principle of physical is that the pressure of air decreases with height. The person can breathe only in a certain barrage. So air pressure is controlled inside the plane. There is no scope for error in this system, because this mistake can cause travelers to die. So you know the whole system If the plane flies to the height, then the air pressure decreases. Since the plane's structure is able to withstand this difference. But the passengers inside the aircraft have to keep the same air pressure. The order in which the pressure to be created is called the cabin pressure control system. Air pressure is low at the height, but on the ground it is more. Therefore, pressure on the air with the help of the engine inside the plane is kept on an ordinary ATM. This pressure is controlled by specially made valves based on the height of the plane simple and straightforward answer, because we need oxygen. We know that the level of oxygen goes down at a higher altitude. This is a misc

Benefits of Video Lectures in Classrooms

I, as an Assistant Professor, working in the field of Engineering and Technology would strive to promote the use of video lectures in the classroom as a terrific resource for supporting the curricula. As an academician, our aim is to get students engaged and energized in the hands-on learning process, and video is clearly a vital medium that generates a much greater enjoyment than the more conventional printed material. Sight and sound serve as a perfect medium for students who are auditory or visual learners. Video lectures tend to maintain the interest of students for longer periods of time.                                       Assume investigating the laws of motion, energy and sound transfer by viewing the launch of the space shuttle into space? And what about teaching with the voices of great historians, political figures and famous people while teaching about the past. Using video lectures in education provides a sensory experience that allows concepts and ideas to actua

The practice of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) or Khatna o r Khafd or Female circumcision on girl child above the age of 5 years and before attaining puberty performed in India among Dawoodi Bohras, is violative of the basic human rights of the child. India is a signatory to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the UN resolution 2012 and also bound by the WHO guidelines where FGM is treated as illegal. The successive governments even after a lot of objection raised by the victims and social activists failed to take appropriate action against this monstrous tradition practiced for long. This act is performed as a ritual among the Dawoodi Bohras Community and has no clear reference in the Holy Quran. It is a systemic practice ingrained in the community for a long period of time.It is rooted in patriarchy and there is a stern belief that female sexuality is destructive to the patriarchal order and their sexual desire should be

Memory Level to Reflective Level of Learning

Teaching affects learning directly and indirectly both. If we disregard the self- efforts of learners, learning and its extent will depend on the level of teaching of the teacher. Generally, educators have determined three levels of teaching and a teacher select these levels according to the ability and mental level of the students. These level can be classifies in three parts i.e. MLT( Memory level of teaching), ULT (Understanding level of teaching), RLT (Reflective level of teaching). It must be keep in mind that one level of teaching is selected at a time. When level of teaching completes and the teacher receive feedback by the process of evaluation may process to next level. MLT is a level concerned with the mere reproduction of learnt material by student through recognition and recall. The model of MLT introduce

Professionalism: What should be and What shouldn’t be

The word ‘Professionalism’ actually looks very common and easy which is clearly explained by its two components; Professional and Ism . The first word says its domain (Professional) while the second (Ism) depicts its nature, which combines to form as a practice of professionals. Therefore it should be understood as the practice and activities carried out by professionals of any occupation or profession. But in modern and highly competitive society, we are losing the importance and actual meaning of this comprehensive word. It is among the most misinterpreted word in the field of workplace as employees interpret in their own words with respect to their requirements, status and inter-personal relationship with others. What should be the interpretation of this word; subjective or objective? I guess most of the people would opt objectivity as their answer. If it is so, then yes you are right!!!
