Sex Ratio and Haryanvi Culture
The sex ratio situation in Haryana according to the 2011 census was certainly alarming. There were only 879 girls behind 1000 boys. The main reason for this was infanticide. At that time people were ignoring or deliberately not wanting to see the far-sighted consequences of such murders. In the coming times, when it was difficult for boys to get married, people warned. At the time of marriage, where boys used to get good dowry, all the equations changed. Now the boys had to spend money for marriage. Haryanvi boys were married to girls from other states like Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, Bengal and Bihar etc.
Boys who settled with their wives or who were kept
lovingly settled in their homes, many girls also came out who went back to
their villages after taking money from home. The boys' homes were settled by
the parents by spending money. But failed to preserve their culture and
language. Food and drink, customs, customs, everything changed. Girls coming
from other states abolished the veil system. Except the ghagra, dresses like
suit saris and bellbottoms are being adopted more.
There was a big difference in eating habits also. Rice
fish is their favorite food. Most of the
girls or women who came to Haryana from outside states have now settled here.
The special thing is that these women do not veil, whereas Haryanvi women have
been veiled from day one. Elderly people who used to eat corn bread are also forced
to eat rice. What about the language? The language of the coming generation is
completely different.According to
the survey conducted by the Convener of Selfie with Daughter Foundation, Sunil
Jaglan in the rural and urban areas of the entire state through university
students recently, one lakh 35 thousand girls are living as daughters-in-law in
Haryana from other states.
The sex ratio in Haryana, which has given the slogan
'BetiBachao-BetiPadhao', has improved in a big way. Now perhaps people must
have understood how big the price is being paid for feticide. The government
has also taken very important steps to curb this, so according to the figures
of sex ratio received in 2014, there were 871 girls out of 1000 boys.
In 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the
'BetiBachao-BetiPadhao' campaign. When the campaign started, the condition of
sex ratio in 12 out of 20 districts of the state was very bad, the state
government took several steps. Government raids illegal ultrasound centers,
registers FIRs, takes strict action against criminals.
2016 this number increased to 900. The year 2017 has
recorded the highest sex ratio of 914 girls per 1000 boys, while this ratio was
900 in 2016 and 876 in 2015. 17 districts have achieved the sex ratio figure of
more than 900 births, with no district falling below the 880 figure in 2017.
According to the figures of 2020, this number increased to 922. This is very
important and inspiring. Other states will also learn from this.
