Does happiness comes by GDP?

The concept of richness that has been used to countries after the Second World War is production and sales combined with a high degree of economic commerce. Economic growth is the sole source of well-being as it is tangible and financial. But it has been heavily criticised to use one characteristic alone to determine a nation's prosperity. New definitions of wealth that go beyond financial riches have also been proposed, as has the addition of happiness and well-being as measured by Bhutan's gross national happiness index. We can identify concepts like the satisfaction of basic needs like food, housing, health, education, culture, and involvement in community life that are perceived as opportunities for individual and collective growth, rather than as deficiencies, despite the varying perspectives that the authors and organisations endorsing these ideas apply to them. Equal opportunity, gratifying employment, conservation of natural resources, and a safe living environment are...

A Decade View of G-20 Presidency

The G20 is a grouping of the twenty largest economies in the world, including both developed and developing nations. Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, EU, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, United Kingdom, and the United States make up the G20. Together, the G20 nations account for around 90% of the world's GDP, 80% of its commerce, and two thirds of its population. Traditional concerns like trade facilitation, trade aid, global value chains, and the contribution of trade to employment have given way to new opportunities and problems like excess capacity, rising participation of MSMEs and women in global value chains, trade in services, supply chain security, and corresponding connections between trade and digitalization, health, and the environment. Following covid, inclusive, sustainable, and resilient trade are prioritized. The result documents under the Indonesian leadership once again acknowledge the int...

"Redefining Justice: The Imperative for Penal Reforms in India"

Introduction: The criminal justice system in India is undergoing a critical phase of introspection, particularly about penal reforms. As the social, economic, and cultural landscape evolves, there is a growing recognition that the penal system must adapt to meet the demands of justice, fairness, and human rights. In this blog post, we will explore the key areas that demand reform within India's penal system and discuss potential strategies to bring about positive change. Shift from Retribution to Rehabilitation: Traditional punitive approaches often dominate the penal system. Penal reforms should focus on shifting the paradigm from mere punishment to rehabilitation. Implementing comprehensive rehabilitation programs within correctional facilities can contribute to the reintegration of offenders into society, reducing the likelihood of recidivism. Decriminalization of Non-violent Offenses: The overcrowding of prisons is a significant concern in India. Penal reforms should involve a...

Artificial Intelligence: A Journey into Its Evolution, Impact, and Future

This blog provides an overview of the evolution, impact, ethical considerations, and future prospects of Artificial Intelligence, highlighting both its achievements and the challenges it poses to society. Artificial Intelligence (AI) stands as a testament to humanity's relentless pursuit of innovation and technological advancement. Its journey from conceptualization to implementation has been nothing short of awe-inspiring, revolutionizing the way we live, work, and interact with the world around us. Evolution of AI The roots of AI can be traced back to ancient times when humans began contemplating the concept of creating intelligent machines. However, it wasn't until the mid-20th century that the term 'artificial intelligence' was coined, marking the formal birth of this field. The pioneering work of Alan Turing, often regarded as the father of AI, laid the groundwork for the development of computational machines capable of simulating human intelligence. Early AI syst...

IS EXCEL A SKILL REQUIRED NOW-A-DAYS?

This question I get from students, whom I have been teaching and they find Excel to be a software which is specially designed for accounting purposes or managers preparing their reports. To answer this query, I surveyed and observed many multi-national companies and startups who come to campuses for placements for professionals, and the answer was that Excel skills was one of the criteria. Hence, considering the importance of it, below are top 5 excel functions a professional or student must know for standing out in the workplace or being sought after. 1.        Conditional formatting : One of the tools of Excel to visualize the data in your spreadsheet. Based on the condition put, you can colourfully create patterns dynamically whether it is cell background or cell value, duplicate or unique values. 2.        Pivot Tables/Charts : Another powerful feature provided by Excel, helpful in summarizing large amounts of ...

Artificial sleep helps AI learn new tasks without losing them

The phenomenon of artificial intelligence acquiring and retaining knowledge in numerous activities can be likened to the cognitive process of sleep, which aids in the consolidation of information acquired during wakefulness. Maxim Bazhenov, a researcher at the University of California, San Diego, highlights the current prominent inclination to include concepts from neurology and biology into the enhancement of established machine learning techniques, with sleep being a notable area of focus. Numerous artificial intelligences exhibit a limitation whereby they possess the ability to proficiently handle a singular collection of precisely defined jobs, yet they lack the capacity to acquire supplementary knowledge subsequently without forfeiting all previously acquired knowledge. According to Pavel Sanda from the Czech University of Sciences in the Czech Republic, a challenge arises when attempting to design systems that possess the ability to engage in lifelong learning. The process ...
