Role of Artificial Intelligence in Autonomous vehicle and ADAS
Autonomous vehicles are self-driving cars equipped with AI-powered sensors, cameras, and software that helps them to navigate roads with zero percent of human involvement. These vehicles are dependent on AI to interpret data from their environment, make real-time decisions, and ensure a safe driving experience.
AI is playing an important role in autonomous vehicle and advanced driver assistance system (ADAS). It is also playing vehicles to take decisions in finding the best routes, controlling the vehicle and adapting the change conditions in the current scenario. It is also expected the increase use of AI will definitely open new ways to explore the related and specific things in the future. We can further see the roles of AI in transportation system as follows:
Role In ADAS:
• Collision Avoidance: As we know that AI has made it possible and efficient to sense the collision with the help of sensors and cameras. So, by doing so it applies the breaks automatically and saves from the accidents.
• Lane Departure Warning: AI also warns the driver for lane transition to avoid the traffic jam and accidents. It helps driver to navigate through particular lane as lane driving is considered as a safe driving.
• Adaptive Cruise Control: AI is also helpful in keeping distance from the other vehicle running on the same track.
• Traffic Sign Recognition: AI can help drivers to understand the different type of sign used in traffic which may be useful in driving smoothly.
• Parking Assistance: AI can help in finding the parking space in crowded area. • Cost Saving: Autonomous fleet will be useful for optimizing the fuel efficiently with the predictive analysis.
Although there are multiple beneficial roles of AI in ADAS but till some extent we may have some challenges and limitations as well.
• Regulatory and Legal Issues: Worldwide government are working on policies and laws for autonomous vehicles. Challenges include data privacy, concerns and ethical dilemmas in decision making.
• Technical Limitation: AI may struggle extreme weather conditions and unpredictable human behaviors.
• Cyber Security Risks: Different connected vehicle is vulnerable to cyber-attacks that can compromise the data and security.
• High Development Cost: Making AI driven cars may cost high in performing research work, hardware embedding and software development.
What could be the future of AI in Autonomous Vehicle?
As we are hoping and guessing with the current trend of AI role in autonomous vehicle is promising. Apart from this advancement in quantum computing, 5G connectivity, AI algorithm will improve vehicle intelligence and efficiency.
Autonomous vehicles and ADAS rely on artificial intelligence (AI), which propels innovation in the automotive sector. Even though there are still obstacles to overcome, continuous research and technical developments will help self-driving skills get better. The development of AI-powered transportation holds
up the possibility of a more secure, effective, and accessible future for everybody. In Autonomous Vehicles, AI enables perception, decision-making, and control, allowing vehicles to navigate complex environments without human intervention.
