New Variants and the Challenge of the Third Wave

After touching the height of 4 lakh new cases daily in the second wave of Covid-19 in India, the number of people infected is now on the decline, however, the possibility of a third wave remains. After the relaxation of the lockdown, people have stopped caring about the people. They are out on a walk in the mountains, as if paying their last vengeance. In this way, you are putting everyone with you to a new level.

Four waves occurred during the Spanish flu global pandemic that occurred nearly a century ago. The third wave of the current novel coronavirus phone-2 has arrived in many countries. A Belgian woman has been found to be suffering from two variants (senior) simultaneously. This has made the situation more serious. A woman has also been found in India, who has got a Covid infection again after a year.

The current surge in Covid cases in the US, South Africa, and Southeast Asia is related to Corona's Delta Variant. This model is one of those four variants of Covid. Which has been kept in the category of concern. A variant is formed when a mutation occurs in its biological structure. This mutation or change can also happen when the organism makes a copying error while breeding.

When a virus has a new mutation more than once or twice, it is called a variant. Random mutations that result in the virus either giving the virus a better chance of survival or becoming promiscuous, this trait is automatically passed on to the next generations. Some mutations are such that make the virus neutral or less transmissible.

If the variant is a highly communicable disease in the severe stage. If it is the deliverer or such, on which the vaccine does not affect, then the affected person becomes worrisome. Some of the current variants on the list of concerns are alpha, beta gamma, and delta. Some of which have serious disease status, some can be transmitted or closed are those that have monoclonal antibodies, or antibodies produced at the time of the previous infection in the person.

The delta variant has spread to more than 100 countries and is the main cause of infection in many places. Next, it has a sub-parity called 'Delta-Plus', which originated in Maharashtra. Several other variants have also been placed in the "Concern" category, which is referred to as Eta, Epsilonthita, and Kappa, respectively. These are more transmissible or immunosuppressed. However, the evidence for this is still preliminary.

Earlier in the month of September 2021 the World Health Organization also listed another variant, Lamda, as a matter of concern. It has been identified and first identified in Peru. It has been found in more than 30 countries in the past week, with some other variants. For example, Ayota and Zeta are being monitored. The information in the bar is also not fully available.

Public health experts are warning that the third wave will come in India, the only question is, when? Behind this concern is the behaviour of people, which is ignoring the precautions. Even the Supreme Court has had to intervene and stop religious gatherings. The Union Home Secretary has pointed out that the R-factor (reproductive component) of infection has already started increasing in some provinces. The R-factor is an index of the rate at which the infection progresses.

Some experts believe that if we do not take precautions and do not break the infection cycle, then the third wave can come to India in the next two months. As of October 13th 2021 a total number of 96,43,79,212 people has been vaccinated in India. It is being said that maybe the third wave will affect children more because the vaccine is available only to those above 18 years.
