An Introduction to Computer Graphics

What is called computer Graphics?

Computer graphics is known as  art of drawing lines, pictures, graphics, charts, etc. using computers with the help of programming and other digital means. Special effects on an  image is formed from number of pixels. Elementary unit on the  screen which forms the basis of design unit is called pixel also known as picture element.

Introduction

(a)  Computer is information processing machine. User needs to communicate with computer and the computer graphics is one among the foremost effective and commonly used ways of communication with the user.

(b) It displays the information in the form of graphical objects such as pictures, charts, diagram and graphs.

 (c) Graphical objects convey more information in less time and easily understandable formats for example statically graph shown in stock exchange.

(d) In special effects picture or graphics objects are presented as a set of discrete pixels. In addition to that we can control intensity and color of pixel which decide how picture look like.

 (e) The special procedure/method recognise particular pixel used for the approximation  to the desired graphics or graphics object is understood as Rasterization.

(f)  Scan conversion is another computer graphics related method involving the representation of picture consists of continuous lines in the form of discrete pixels .

 Advantages of computer graphics

(a) Special effects is one among the foremost effective and commonly used ways of communication with computer.

(b) It provides tools for producing picture of͞ real world͟ as well as synthetic objects such as mathematical surfaces in 4D and of knowledge that haven't any inherent geometry like survey result.

(c) It provides tools called motion dynamics. In which user can move objects also as observes as per requirement for instance walk throw made by builder to point out flat interior and surrounding

(d) It has ability to show moving pictures thus possible to produce animations with computer graphics.

(e) It provides facility called update dynamics. With this we will change the form color and other properties of object.

(f) Now in recent development of digital signal processing and audio synthesis chip the interactive graphics can now provide audio feedback along with the graphical feed backs. Application of computer graphics

 (g) User interface: User interface can be explained in the following manner , visual object which one can observe on screen which communicates with user is one of the most useful applications of the computer graphics.

(h) Office automation and desktop publishing: It is used for creation and dissemination of information. It is used in creation and printing of documents  containing images, tables, graphs and other forms of drawn or scanned images or picture.
