NEED OF EARLY ENTREPRENEURSHIP EDUCATION IN INDIA

A successful business not always needs a impressive, innovative or attractive business idea. A very common business idea can also be converted into a profitable venture. But that definitely needs a impressive, innovative and skilful entrepreneur. We all believe that the age group of young adults is the best age to imbibe entrepreneurial skills but, on the contrary, this believe is not fully acceptable. Rather inculcating the entrepreneurial skills at the earlier stages of childhood is always appreciated to have that skills grow with the growth of the child over the years.

The youngsters today are all surrounded by the businesses of all sizes, from large corporations to roadside street food shops. All are in the form of running business only. If we all think deeply, each and every parent come across this question during the childhood days of their children, where children ask why we are paying money to get toys, why parents are going to office, why school need fees for education and many more. Rather than simply replying them the straight answers if we try to make them understand the reason for paying money i.e. in barter of services or goods which is the reason why entrepreneurs are providing goods or services to the society. The children should get the opportunity to think beyond the box and should not be motivated to only follow the given instructions.

The school education today in India do not allow children much to explore. Though I must say that there is a lot of change in the approach of school and colleges in imparting education in children. They are now moving ahead from traditional ways of teaching to more application-based teaching. But still lot more is required to be changed in the education system in India. The children should be provided with all opportunity to think in their own ways and explore new things. The structure of assignments given at school level should be more application based. The methodology should be more of scouting new things, rather than promoting children to simply follow instruction and do the task. These educational initiatives will induce students with a greater sense of self-control and better self-esteem, and when programs utilize hands-on, experiential learning techniques they will also increase innovative thinking skills.

The guidance counsellors at schools should try to motivate and educate students about entrepreneurs, their success stories, and their success traits. They should not only motivate students for the traditional career options but also make them realise that they can pursue something different depending their skill sets. And to realise individual child’s skill set, it is required to have certain essential changes in the school education approach.

Being a successful entrepreneur is no doubt a long strenuous journey, so why to start it after twenty years of your life. Let the child develop this concept in his minds since his childhood and let the child grow with this in life so that it will become easier for him to take the decision at the right time of life rather than struggling to take the decision.

The need of the hour today is to start providing entrepreneur education at the school level to appreciate the capabilities of the students and to promote thinking out of the box. The sooner we try to create awareness among the kids and trying to make them understand the importance of entrepreneurship, sooner they will be able to relate their capabilities and skills for the same.
