PROBLEMS FACED BY THE DEPRIVED SECTION DURING THE PANDEMIC COVID-19
Major portion of employment in
India is provided by the unorganized sector. There is a large no. of migrant
workers from various states that travel to metropolitan cities for work. People
who have lower income have faced challenges in their income.
These workers are daily wage
earners, so due to lockdown, they have no income. The government has provided
food grains and Rs1000, but these haven't reached the ultimate beneficiary due to various issues like mismatch of Information, absence of
records or even due to the inefficiencies of the respective states. This crisis
has transformed into a labor and an economic market shock, resulting not only
in the decreasing supply but also in the increasing Demands.
The affects in the
production level is now spreading to the supply market all over the globe.
The people who have low
income, in remote areas and from marginalized groups they may face greater
challenge of health care. During the outbreak phase of covid-19, a number of
decisive measures are taken to combat the spread of the disease. It has resulted
in many changes in our daily lives. Every institution has been shut down in
different parts of the country to cancellation of many national and
international events such as IPL and NBA. Even the economy will also be
adversely impacted. Self-isolation is regarded as one of the key strategies in
reducing or flattening the curve of infection rates. But there living spaces are so small that
practicing social distancing is a far cry , the health of females (especially
pregnant ) ones who do not have the basic resources in terms of food , shelter
and money to buy the necessities is risking 2 lives (one of which hasn't come
to life till now and herself ).
In the world's least
developed countries about 1000 million people are at risk. These countries are
lacking in medical infrastructure. The ongoing death poll from covid-19
pandemic in the country portends a looming disaster on countries such as Italy and USA. People of all ages are being infected by the virus. Older
people and people with pre-existing medical problems are more vulnerable to
becoming severely ill. Government should also ensure that the treatment or the
vaccine for covoid-19 should be affordable and accessible for all the
people. Corona virus is a devastating blow to children in poverty. So far
coronavirus resulted less severe cases among children but it can affect their
lives in different manner. People of the deprived section including those
displaced by the conflicts live in the vulnerable condition including camps,
streets etc. Many will not be in a
position to practice distancing or imply the basic hygiene measure. Health care
resources are not yet easily available because of this people face more health
issues. To cope with the challenge many countries have already taken actions.
but in many countries there is no health care provision, the poorest are unable
to pay for testing. Poorest household
needs support to survive the shock and ensure their most vulnerable family
member-the children, elder, the one with
disabilities-are protected. Governments are scaling up the income support.
