The Myths behind Law & Order

The concept of law is old as Plato; we can witness the origin of law from old texts. Often do we experience the situation where we see things are getting out of order but in fact they very much in order and many a times we see things are well in place but they are not so. It can be understood by the statistics which provides the criteria to assess and analyse the things. Statistics are good parameters to assess the prevalent situation but sometimes it brings out the negative aspect from the positive things. It is evident from the fact that if less complaints are registered by the police officers in a district due to non access or refusal on part of police officers, it will certainly ameliorate  the image of police department and of course of the state government in the eyes of common people. So, we can say that law is in order on the basis of statistics which is in fact not in order. Law & order being the state subject, there are few state governments which acts proactively and directs the police officers to register the complaints willingly. Concept of zero FIR is a step forward to achieve justice for victim in an easier way otherwise victim is kept on victimised by the system. Recently, Railway protection force (RPF) has launched an App with the help of which an FIR may be lodged even during journey. This app will also have a panic button for women in distress. Provision of on line FIR/Complaint has also been launched by various state governments like Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh and Tamil Nadu to provide an initial platform for redressal of their grievances at their door step.
It is submitted through this blog that earlier the police used be the command for law but now the law is the command for police. Only unfortunate thing is the better reformation sometimes pays its price by giving an opportunity to the rival forces to demonise the efficient thoughtful government.
