BIG DATA means dealing with “Big Privacy and Security Challenges”

In the BIGData the ‘Big’ word does not refers only to volume of data, but also the variety and velocity of data sources and elements present in that data.  This information is stored in large databases which are owned by the government and private stakeholders. Basically most of the data is collected by the government organization but it is managed or stored by the private organization.
The main problem is to maintain the privacy and security of data, because a very large amount of data is created with the use of social media on daily basis. According to a research, 2.5 quintillion bytes of data are created every day, in the last two years we created 90% of whole data present all over the world. It is very hard to maintain store, share, analyse and visualize this quickly generated data with the existing tools and algorithms.
To maintain the privacy of the data, there are more than 100 privacy laws adopted by various countries worldwide. Some of the laws work to protect the data which is generated by the actors, politicians, businesses and government on the regular basis. The drawback of these laws is that they are not sufficient to provide better privacy, leaving it up to a wide range of interpretations.
There are so many techniques which are used to preserve the privacy in different fields. Such as in healthcare sector we use privacy preserving data publishing, which gives us a wide perspective of providing privacy, but the problem is that it provides the privacy on large database which is arranged in tabular form but in big data we are not storing the data in tabular form so that is also a challenge.
So, the problem is that the data is generated in fast manner and the techniques which we use to preserve the privacy and security of that data is not so much advanced to handle that much amount of data on daily basis. Therefore, if the privacy is not maintained then there are so many issues which are generated and on the second hand we are not able to provide security on such amount of data. Thus it can be said that BIG Data is coming with big challenges in the field of Privacy and Security.
